If you can’t present your video’s central idea or theme clearly with a thumbnail and title, it’s not a good fit for youtube.A topic that might be great for the classroom or a complete text or code-based course may not work with youtube videos.Before working on a complete video, you must ensure that you have a good idea of the title and thumbnail.
What makes a good thumbnail
A compelling thumbnail is not a perfect and pretty picture that respects every graphic design principle.People glance at many video recommendations on youtube, so the role of your thumbnail is to attract their eye and communicate what the video is about in one second.A good thumbnail:
Has great value and color contrast.
Visually contrasts with other video recommendations.
Communicates what the video is about.
Can be understood at least to some degree in one second.
On top of that, a great thumbnail is intriguing. It pokes at the viewer’s curiosity. The ability to make a great thumbnail depends largely on the video’s topic.
The call to action
Ideally, we could make videos and tutorials for free and not worry about money and growth. But we can’t. People don’t check out courses or purchase them on their own, and we depend on sales to keep going.Every video we make should have a call to action. It should give one action we want people to take:

You don’t want more than one action at once because the more options you have, the fewer persons will take action.We must consider that call to action early on, along with the title, framing, and thumbnail.
